How We Gather

Weekly Worship

Sunday at 10 a.m.
In this service, you will find a mixture of traditional Lutheran liturgy and contemporary music. The sanctuary has a projection screen that is used to present the entire service, giving worshipers the ability to participate in worship without having to “flip through a book or bulletin.” Hymns and service music are accompanied by organ and a band.

Additional Worship Information
Holy Communion is celebrated each week. At St. Thomas/Holy Spirit, people wear the clothes that make them feel most comfortable worshiping God. There is no expectation of a certain style of dress. You would not be out of place in jeans, or in a shirt and tie, or anything in-between. We believe that being present together in worship is much more important than what we wear on Sunday morning.

Sunday School and Adult Study

September through May we offer Sunday School for children preK and up. We teach lessons based on the lectionary cycle so kids get a fuller understanding of what they will hear in worship.

Adult Study takes place year round. Adults are invited to gather to discuss scripture in an in depth way, helping to connect what is in the Bible to our daily lives.

Confirmation

September through May we offer confirmation for middle school students. Classes are taught both at STHS and in a collaboration with other ELCA churches in the south St. Louis area. Confirmation is a two to three year program. Youth are invited to discover more about the ELCA and how our Lutheran Confessions play a role in our lives. They discover more about their own faith and make the decision on their readiness to affirm their baptism.
